How to produce living knowledge

How to produce living knowledge

••• The event •••

“How to produce living knowledge” is part the #AdhocracyATH exhibition
From May 25th to 27th the workshop space of the Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens will be connected in
streaming with the IRA-C headquarter in Milan. The two spaces, in a continuous relationship between physical and web space, will be the home of a digital publishing laboratory.
Through the use of various digital platforms it will be possible to record interviews and talks with scholars, professionals and activists from all around the world.
There will be also collective writing workshops, video projections and a continuous collection of materials from the web. The intent is to open and stimulate the debate of the partecipants, in the physical spaces and also in the web space.

••• The discussion •••

With the event How to produce living knowledge we want to identify the “knowledge as the strategic battefield for the redefinition of relations of class. To do that, however, we must free ourselves from the idea of knowledge as an object in itself neutral or progressive. Knowledge is neither good nor bad: it is the content and the stakes of a clash, it doesn't exist outside of a fight and into the parties that embody it, and is now crossed by an constructive ambivalence, as productive force and land exploitation."

The production of " living knowledge" becomes the central node for us to talk about various issues related to it: cognitivization and precariousness of work, the intertwining of the economic crisis and the crisis of the university, the transformation of knowledge and education systems.

”Any revolutionary project must be based on the need of re-appropriating this knowledge for the populations that have produced it; not simply making available new knowledge in less restricted 'open' forms but, rather, producing a new common sense: raising critique to the level of society so that society can recognise its real nature and recompose itself in a more sustainable and resilient form.”

••• How to awake a dead university workshop •••

“How to awake a dead university” workshop aims to be the necrology ofthe young, but dead, Bovisa faculty of architecture. As every necrology tryies to rebuild a posteriori a “usable past”, a tale of what should have been in order to leave a consideration to the later.

Seen the closure of the Architecture Faculty of Milan Bovisa the workshop try to imagine a future university not linked to a fixed place (or to a fixed ideology) and that can conquere underexploited places around the city of Milan.

Tutor of the workshop will be the guys of Fosbury Architecture.

The workshop will start with a round table about the birth and the death of the Architecture Faculty of Milan Bovisa with the following guests:
