Kaleidoscope Project Space
via Macedonio Melloni 33, Milano
Kaleidoscope's new headquarters in Milan, in via Macedonio Melloni 33, serve both as the magazine's editorial office and a space for exhibitions and events. In coincidence with the upcoming edition of Miart, Milan's modern and contemporary art fair, Kaleidoscope Project Space inaugurates the 2014 exhibition program with the first from a series of " Selects," short-term presentations organized each time by a different curator, artist or cultural producer from Milan and Italy, invited to imagine a selection of works that will surround and inspire our team during work and meetings, while also being enjoyable to the city audience.
For the first episode, we have invited Milovan Farronato, previously the Artistic Director of local art space Viafarini and recently relocated to London to serve as Director of Fiorucci Art Trust, whose choice has been to install a selection of works by Cyprus-born, Paris-based artist Christodoulos Panayiotou. The presentation is titled " NGC 1277," after a lenticular galaxy in the constellation of Perseus described as a " relic of the early universe" and believed to host a supermassive black hole at its center. A constellation of " dead stars" will gravitate in the exhibition space, from Marylin Monroe to Judy Garland, conveying the artist's attempt, in his practice, to recover fragments of information and make tangible something absent or lost.
